At WCC, we are passionate about empowering every child, young person, and family in Wallsend to fulfil their potential. Since becoming an independent charity, we’ve focused on bringing people together—schools, families, and community partners—to create real, lasting change. Our approach isn’t about delivering services ourselves, but about securing resources, amplifying community voices, and supporting others to innovate and collaborate. We believe it truly takes a village to raise a child, and we work every day to make that village stronger.
In 2025, we achieved major milestones: establishing ourselves as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, building a strong board of trustees, and securing a £500,000 grant for our flagship 'Story of Parent Power' project. This initiative brings parents and schools together as equal partners, helping them find common ground and empowering parents to advocate for their communities. Alongside this, our Youth Participatory Action Research programme gives young people the tools to lead change, and our Including All project supports families to improve school attendance. We also launched the Wallsend Active Schools Partnership, engaging hundreds of pupils in fun, healthy activities.
Our impact is seen in the way we help others work together, pilot new ideas, and influence policy at both local and national levels. With a strong financial foundation and a clear strategy for growth, we’re excited to keep building a brighter future for Wallsend’s children and families.
